Charles Platt is the author of over 40 fiction and nonfiction books, including science-fiction novels such as The Silicon Man (endorsed by William Gibson as "A plausible, well-crafted narrative exploring cyberspace in a wholly new and very refreshing way") and Protektor (recently published in paperback by Avon Books), as well as critical and non-fiction works including the classic The Dream Makers, and his latest, Loose Canon.

Platt was for several years a senior writer at Wired magazine, where a dozen of his features have appeared so far. His nonfiction has appeared in publications such as Omni, The Washington Post, and The Los Angeles Times.

A journalist and computer programmer, Platt at various times served as editor at three different New York publishing houses, and both designed and edited the ground-breaking British magazine New Worlds.

He also taught at The New School for Social Research in New York City, and served as vice-president of CryoCare Foundation, a cryonics organization that he co-founded in 1994.

Charles was born in Britain in 1945, moved to New York in 1970, and currently resides in Arizona.
